No matter where life takes us, the heart of every adventure has always been family.

Anyone close to us knows we love to travel, and honestly, that probably comes as no surprise. Some of our favorite memories have come from big trips to Disney, exploring new destinations, and celebrating special milestones together. But just as many have come from everyday moments closer to home. Local outings, family traditions, themed dinners around the kitchen table, and quiet summer nights together somehow become the moments we treasure most.
As our family has grown, so has our love for creating meaningful experiences together. Sometimes that means planning a vacation or visiting one of our favorite local spots. Other times, it simply means slowing down and enjoying time together at home. Over the years, we’ve learned that the destination is only part of the story. The people you share those moments with are what truly make them special.
The Memories That Matter Most
Over the years, our adventures have taken many different forms. Some have involved passports, theme parks, and suitcases packed for a week away. Others have been much simpler, like trips to the zoo, holiday traditions, dance competition weekends, movie nights at home, or finding new places to explore here in Wisconsin. The Milwaukee County Zoo has become one of those local places woven into our family’s story, and I shared more about why we keep coming back in One of Our Favorite Local Spots: The Milwaukee County Zoo.

Not every lasting memory has to come from a big vacation. In fact, sometimes the moments that stay with me the longest are the simple ones. Regular summer afternoons by the pool listening to music while the kids splash and play. Roasting marshmallows over the fire and trying to get the perfect golden char before one inevitably catches on fire. Watching the excitement build as Noelle and Lincoln choose their Halloween costumes each year or seeing their personalities shine through birthday party themes and creative ideas.
It really is about enjoying the process of watching them become their own people.
Why Family Adventures Matter to Us
For us, creating memories together has become one of the most important parts of our family life. We love finding ways to stay connected, celebrate traditions, and make ordinary days feel a little more special. Family means knowing you are never alone. Having people we love beside us makes the good days even sweeter and the harder days feel a little less heavy.
This part of Bound 4 Adventures is where I’ll share more of those everyday memories and experiences. You’ll find local outings, seasonal traditions, birthday celebrations, and special moments at home. Together, these little adventures help shape our family story along the way.
I never wanted the Family Adventures category to feel boxed into one thing because families are always growing and changing. Some adventures may involve passports and plane tickets. Others may happen right here at home. No matter where they take place, family will always be at the center of them.

Seeing the World Through Their Eyes
Tony and I have been lucky to travel to many places together, but experiencing those places with our kids makes them feel new again. I have visited nine countries so far, and I already look forward to returning to some of them one day with Noelle and Lincoln. One of my favorite parts of parenthood is watching them experience the world in their own unique ways. Even familiar places can feel completely new when seen through the eyes of a child.
When Noelle was younger, she loved opportunities to interact with animals at the zoo. I still remember watching her carefully reach out to touch a gecko for the first time. The look on her face was filled with curiosity, excitement, and complete wonder. As a mom, seeing her embrace something new so fully was incredibly heartwarming.

Both kids are so different, and I love watching their personalities continue to grow. Some moments are full of excitement and awe. Other times, they wrinkle their noses at something unfamiliar, and honestly, that is part of the fun too. Those reactions, interests, and little moments help us learn more about who they are becoming along the way.
Traditions That Grow With Us

Family traditions have always been important to us. Some were passed down from my own childhood. I remember gathering with family for Christmas, Easter, and Thanksgiving while the cousins played and the adults filled the kitchen talking, cooking, and catching up together.
Now, we love creating that same feeling for Noelle and Lincoln in our own home. During the holidays, we try to add a little extra magic around the house. Our mischievous reindeer tend to leave plenty of messes behind each Christmas season, and I think the kids would be heartbroken if they suddenly stopped visiting. That is definitely a story for another post someday.
We also love spending time together in the kitchen. Some of my favorite memories come from watching the kids create and experiment with their own ideas. One year, Noelle wanted to surprise Tony with a cake designed to look exactly like a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. Watching her proudly build both the fake sandwich cake and a real sandwich beside it to compare the two was one of those simple moments I never want to forget.

Traditions give us something to look forward to each year, but they also help keep family stories and memories connected across generations. My hope is that one day the traditions we create together now will become memories Noelle and Lincoln carry into their own families someday too.
Looking Ahead

As the years go by, I know the way we make memories will continue to grow alongside our family. Some traditions will stay the same, while new ones will naturally find their way into our lives too.
Still, my hope is that this space helps us document these moments and reminds other families that lasting memories do not always have to come from elaborate vacations or perfectly planned experiences. Sometimes the moments that matter most are the quiet, ordinary ones shared together along the way.
Because at the end of the day, family is at the heart of every adventure.
